I think my main concerns for Peyton this year are:

1. She's a little older and GETS it when other kids ask about her hair and appearance, I don't want her feelings to get hurt

2. Always the influx of new germs and the potential for back to school sickness

3. After talking to Peyton's teacher, I am writing a short note that will got home with each student in her grade to give a brief explanation of her health situation and to be extra aware when you send them to school with a cough or fever, knowing that I'll be the one going to get her from school if someone's sick.

4. I'm just excited for Peyton because she's excited to go!

Good communication with the teacher, the principal, the school nurse, etc. Letting them know the situation and your concerns really makes a huge difference. Kenna's kindergarten teacher last year was awesome. She had hand sanitizer in the classroom and also had the children washing their hands all the time with soap and water. Being that Kenna was almost finished with treatment, I didn't feel it was necessary to let every parent in the classroom know her situation. She had her hair and had no visible signs of anything being wrong.
Basically use your judgment as to what you think needs to be done to make the school year successful for your child.
