Back to School Concerns

With back to school time upon us, please share any advice you may have for others heading back to class or concerns you may have about you own child.

As you some of you know. My mom passed away in June. I have 2 more TV's to give away. A 25or27" and a little 9" or so. If you want them they are yours. Just let me know. I will bring them to the next Lil tales or Thurs. night. If you live near St Pete you can swing by and get them!

Sibling Outing

Hey I was wondering if anyone wants to do something with the siblings of the kids being treated. I know my daughter would like that. She is 8 and so she feels left out a lot. Just let me know.

Broviac Supplies

I have a bunch of stuff for a central line. Flushes and stuff like that. Brand new. I am actually still paying for them! I will GIVE them to anyone that needs them. I just hate to throw it away. Let me know.

Down Syndrome & Leukemia

I am hoping more mother's of children with Down Syndrome or any type of syndrome join. Most survive but some like Sierra pass away. Children with Down Syndrome have a greater risk of getting Leukemia than a typical child. The treatments are more toxic to their system as well than that of a typical child so they have more hospital stays as well.

What is your child's diagnosis: Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, CNS positive

I can see OVP becoming such a great source of information and comfort for families all over the country. I specifically am thinking about a little boy in Iowa with Medulloblastoma that I'm going to refer here, especially after reading the posts regarding treatment from other readers. My son is 4 years out in August (P.T.L.!) It really would have helped especially after diagnosis to be able to talk to someone in our same shoes, to know what to expect and especially questions to ask in being the advocate for my son. It would have eliminated much frustration and anxiety. But we made it through and are sooo glad it's now behind us! Anyway, thank you for taking the iniative to start this helpful site. :) Jan Dorothy
